BION Marks 10th Anniversary with Food Drive

Mechanical Contracting Firm Encourages Donations to Streetlight Ministries

Since the 2008 opening of its first humble “office” in the kitchen of co-founder and CEO Josie Geiger, CHC, BION, inc. has quickly become a respected name in the Northern Virginia healthcare construction industry. Now, with nearly 100 employees and its own facility expansion underway, the firm has participated in multi-million hospital projects, winning industry awards for excellence in its work with HVAC,  plumbing and medical gas systems. Celebration plans for the company’s 10-year anniversary include a “birthday bash” for employees, which featured a food drive for Streetlight Ministries.

“In addition to the usual celebration activities—food, employee recognition, BION swag—we also use our anniversary as an opportunity to give back to a local nonprofit,” explained BION co-founder and CEO Josie Geiger, CHC. “This year we chose Streetlight Ministries because of the way it provides vital services to people in need, while treating everybody with dignity. I am impressed with their work and proud that BION can support their efforts.”

Streetlight has served the poor and homeless in Northern Virginia since 2004, through programs such as supportive housing, homelessness prevention, food pantry and clothing closet. “We believe that everyone has intrinsic value and we are committed to helping each individual who comes through our door to rise above their present challenges to achieve independence and personal success,” reads the nonprofit’s website.

Geiger noted that more is in the works to mark BION’s anniversary, including a “Then & Now” video timeline and a party for vendors and partners. She also encouraged others to join the BION food drive by bringing nonperishable items to its headquarters at 11721 Pump Station Way in Manassas, through Friday, September 21. Donations can also be made directly to Streetlight Ministries at www.thestreetlightministries.org.
